For normal homocysteine metabolism
Do you have elevated homocysteine? What is it and how does it affect our health?
Homocysteine, better known as factor H, is a sulphur-containing amino acid that takes part in tissue building. However, clinical tests have confirmed that increased homocysteine concentration can cause the onset and worsening of certain diseases.1-4 Therefore it is necessary to maintain normal homocysteine metabolism.
Maintaining normal homocysteine metabolism
Homocysteine is an amino acid that is normally produced in our body, and the presence of folate, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6 is important for its normal metabolism. Furthermore, increased concentration and unbalanced metabolism of homocysteine may be caused by bad lifestyle habits (smoking, alcohol consumption, reduced physical activity) or genetic factors.
Supporting nervous system health
SAGAS Rc 02 NORMAL HOMOCYSTEINE METABOLISM contains an active metabolic form of vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin),5 vitamin B2, vitamin B6 and a biologically active form of vitamin B9 (methyltetrahydrofolate, 5-MTHF),6 which contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism and the maintenance of its normal concentrations*. Folate, vitamins B12 and B6 contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism, and vitamin B6 contributes to normal cysteine synthesis. Vitamin B2 contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
