Artichoke has been used as a medicinal herb and was first documented in the 4th century BC. It is a plant of the Asteraceae family, also known as milk thistle. Also known as globe artichoke, the plant produces large violet and green flower heads and is distinct from Jerusalem artichoke, an edible root vegetable.

Traditionally it has been used to ease discomfort in the upper abdomen or lower chest that some people feel after eating. Modern research has led practitioners to extend its use to patients looking after their gut health and to those with fat digestion issues.

It is the leaves of the artichoke plant that are most important, especially cynarin. Lamberts® Artichoke is a high-strength artichoke extract, standardised to 5% cynarin, to provide a set level of 16 mg cynarin per tablet.

Allergy advice

The list of allergen products is long: barley, soy, eggs, milk (dairy products), lactose, nuts, sulphites, celery, fish, lupin and ingredients containing gluten.

Caution

This product is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Usage:

Take 1-2 tablets per day with a meal or as directed.

Alternatively, 2 tablets can be taken before a fatty meal to support digestion.

Do not exceed the recommended dose.
