Under normal circumstances there is a carefully controlled balance of yeasts and bacteria in our digestive system that works to maintain health. One of these organisms is a type of yeast called Candida albicans, and it is usually not a problem for us. However, under certain conditions, including the use of antibiotics, contraceptive pills and diets high in sugar, this yeast grows out of control, resulting in candidiasis (often simply referred to as candida). This can affect the whole body and may result in a wide range of symptoms including bloating, food intolerance, athlete's foot, headaches and eczema. Most practitioners usually recommend a diet change that excludes yeast and sugar, together with a supplement programme designed to help restore balance in the digestive tract and heal the gut, as well as support the immune system. This unique, high-potency formula contains a natural complex of herbs and spices that may help maintain a healthy balance in the digestive tract. It includes cinnamon bark together with olive leaf and oregano. When we use herbs and spices in Lamberts® formulations, we always make sure to use the correct type and the appropriate part of the plant. That is why we have specifically used cinnamon bark, as bark, as opposed to oil, is mainly documented for its therapeutic qualities, including antimicrobial and antifungal activity.
