Each side of the gua sha has its own purpose:

Short edge: flat, sharp surface for more precise work on the eyebrows and brow line, as well as delicate areas (lips, eyes). Detector (long tip): for reflexology. Long straight edge: sculpting surface for the neck, forehead, cheeks, cheekbones, back, arms, legs and belly. Teeth: for lifting.
