With Naim, Jul Varibobë, De Radë, Gavril Darë, Seremb, Nolli, Migjeni, Shime Deshpalit, Vorea Ujko and others of the National Renaissance…
To travel through myths with a living myth is an extraordinary pleasure. Although there is no Albanian who has not passed through school benches and learned about Naim, De Radë, Seremb, Noli or Migjeni, the study book “Literary Journeys” by Nasho Jorgaqi leads us to vivid descriptions and perceptions that will remain in the reader's mind for a long time. Here especially every teacher or lecturer of literature, every pupil or student with interests beyond the textbook, will find a variety of new, previously unknown documents.
In this book, the narrative language is conveyed through the documentation of information, masterfully realising the literary biographies of our disciples of the National Renaissance. Reading this book, it feels as if you were near Naim, near the Arbëresh of Calabria and those of Zara, as if you had travelled and talked with the priest-poet Vorea Ujko, as if you had talked with Noli, Migjeni, De Radë, Gavril Darë, Shime Deshpalit and many others. As if you had walked the streets they walked, touched everything they touched, as if you had returned to the time when, besides literature, they built the era, culture and the reborn Albanian identity.
The reading leads us to Fan Noli, described through a recreated memory of the meeting of the author of this book, Nasho Jorgaqi, with Fan Noli's nephew, when he once went out to meet them on the veranda of our customs house…
In this book we meet Migjeni, reading the great questions about the world and an eternal relationship with it. We read a travel description towards Sofia, guided by Thoma Kacori, and walk with our own steps through the places where our Renaissance figures made their invaluable contributions.
The book is organised in a narrative structure, equipped with documents and photographs of the time in which the writers the researcher writes about lived. This study, completely unique in the way the materials and texts selected by the author Nasho Jorgaqi are organised, remains an important resource for all teachers and lecturers of literature, and especially a book of great value for pupils and students of Albanian literature.
