An official of a humanitarian mission on the African continent accidentally witnesses a bombing, as tragic as it is grotesque. Right after completing the mission and returning to his hometown, he tries to write an article for "The New York Times"; "a Mediterranean city that seems to live entirely in a Monet painting." But how could he know that there too, in his hometown, awaits "a bombed painting"…
Following the novel "Bulevardi i Yjeve", "Humanitarian Terms Like the Word Bombing" is another sarcastic title by author Arlinda Guma, which lashes out at the bureaucratic shortsightedness of international organizations in third world countries. A fiction built on a real event, which strangely went unnoticed by international public opinion. A fiction that spares no irony or black humor, nor the subjectivism of global geopolitics.
The novel is also permeated by a second, no less important thread, which wraps you in a delicate, hazy atmosphere of unknown mirages, "as if fragments from the collision of several eras with one another", which the hero struggles to decipher… Meanwhile another haze, a love that seems to have boarded a train that hesitates to depart, accompanies him "with a distant sorrow", which migrates into the eyes of the statues of his "impressionist" city. "They might not have a limb, perhaps some, they might not even have a head, but the sorrow would always be there, stirring up unrest."
Two subjects of a novel in one… and a thread eaten away by time, which holds them together… "with a gleam of abysses"…
