Born in Skopje, but Mother Teresa of Calcutta spent most of her life in India, caring for the poor and the sick in this overpopulated country. Although she was small in stature, the highest values that represent the human being were embodied in her, such as generosity, solidarity, respect for the faith of others, joy and hope; and to these she added her own personal faith, which gave her the courage and strength needed to carry out one of the most dignified and admirable social works of the 20th century. Against her will, in 1979 she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and in October 2003 she was beatified by His Holiness Pope John Paul II.
