Calm in Times of War

The publishing house "Albas" brings to Albanian the book by Spanish writer Cristian Crusat, "Calm in Times of War". This collection of stories is a book about characters more than intrigues. In these stories, the arguments are almost subordinated to the conflict of some characters, who seem to solve their problems in solitude and not with sound judgment, but with their sentimental spirit. In the stories of this volume, the film of a crisis seems to be projected, in which decisive changes are foreshadowed, but which never manage to take clear form in the final goal of the story. The author is not interested in the ending, the resolution of their stories, nor in following the classic flow of narration; above all, he is troubled by the theme, the rupture, the inner conflicts of his characters, abandonment, which overcome them with a cold harshness. In these narratives there is a mix of wonders, dreams, lyricism, suggestions, which are at the mercy of the guiding hand, as uncertain as they are unexpected, of Crusat, and therefore someone inside, deep in the cave of these texts, finds themselves lost and wonderfully disoriented.
