Tapeti im i kuq

This is the third poetry book by the well-known painter and architect Maks Velo. The painter, condemned under the communist regime for failing to align his creativity with communist ideology, continues to preserve the originality and spontaneity of his work as an artist. In a style full of symbols and sparing words, he keeps the same balance of figuration found in his paintings.

“Life is a dream

Like a grafted tree,

The fruits are neither sweet nor bitter.

Helium balloon dreams

Sink down,

Or the balloon sinks normally,

Or the balloon burns like a killed bird.”
