Seven Windows

"Seven Windows" is a narrative about the author's family, structured not chronologically but psycho-retrospectively, taking as the reference points of the world three important cuts of emotional memory: childhood, the untimely death of the father, and the present as a crossroads. Through the "milestones" of memory, the author simultaneously sketches the spiritual physiognomies of the respective eras through himself and his family members, viewing them as objects and subjects of Albanian society in the broadest sense, with their dramatic nature, individual traits and unexpected twists of fate in a politically experimental and adventurous country, where freedom, dignity, ideals and hopes are devalued, broken and trampled. The manner of narration brings the reader closer to the characters and their experiences, revealing more than a family saga: the Albanian landscape between the last two centuries.
