How Did Albanian Come About?

For centuries scholars have posed the great question: "When was the Albanian language written?" and have tried to answer it, seeking documentation and going deeper and deeper into the roots of Albanian written culture. However, another essential question has remained unasked: "Why would Albanian be written?" Without a powerful impulse this act, which is the origin of a second, historical life and the immortality of a people, could not have happened. Archaeology has uncovered ancient cultures thousands of years old, but there was no writing there, and it cannot be said with certainty which people they belong to. Only with writing does the history of a people separate from prehistory, and that history becomes indelible. Since the question "Why?" has not been posed, nor have there been broad and early attempts to find an answer to it, just as with the question "When?", in this first step I will, as far as possible, touch on the two main sides of the question "Why?" — writes Professor Xhevat Lloshi in his scholarly book "How Did Albanian Come About? How Sweet, How Beautiful!" This study is divided into two parts: "Albanians on Albanian" and "Foreigners on Albanian". This book, with its content, is a firm testimony against those who claim that Albanian is poor, unworked, has many foreign words, is not standardized, is difficult for some, and so on. Albanian is a language like all others, and we love it as every people loves its own language, writes Professor Xhevat Lloshi.
