SAPFÓ

Why Sapfó, stressed on the o and with a "p" in the middle, and not Sáfo, stressed on the a, as we usually hear it? Simply put: for traditional reasons, not worth tracing in this context, the name became popular as "Safo", probably borrowed from Italian, and has remained so. It has even been used in this form as a proper name, though not very often. It is fitting that, in the now cultivated Albanian language, some naive inaccuracies of the past be corrected. That is why we present here translated poems of Sappho.
