Cloud in Trousers

In these poems, Mayakovsky gives us, instead of soft feeling, a heart that burns "like a house in flames". Instead of traditional lyricism, he hurls at us a broken, fractured line that breathes with the breathlessness of time. This is not lyricism to be savored sweetly, but a poetic act to be confronted. It makes the reader think that language, like the world, can disintegrate and be reshaped from the very beginning.
