The Odyssey for Children

Homer's epic poem "THE ODYSSEY" tells of the dangerous adventures of Odysseus (Ulysses) on his return home, where his beloved wife Penelope, his son Telemachus, his father Laertes and the loyal people of his court awaited him. After 10 years of war in Troy and its fall, Odysseus sets out on his perilous journey, which kept him away from his family for another 10 years. Poseidon, the god of the seas, angered at Odysseus, sends him dangerous misadventures that keep him far from his homeland. But the goddess Athena loved Odysseus very much and helps him return home. In Odysseus's absence, the suitors in the royal palace squander the wealth and demand that Penelope choose one of them as her husband. Homer sang so beautifully of the adventures of this cunning warrior who strove to return to his land.
