A Diamond as Big as the Ritz

"Let us love each other for a while, for a year or more. This is a divine form of intoxication that we all must try. In this whole world there are only diamonds, diamonds and perhaps the tinsel of disillusionment given as gifts. So I have one too, and, as usually happens, I will make the ordinary nothing of it too." "It was a very great sin the one who first invented consciousness. Let us lose it for a few hours..." (A Diamond as Big as the Ritz)

Fitzgerald is considered one of the best American authors of the 20th century and has been honored with many awards. His short prose includes about forty stories, of which seven most representative have been selected. This collection, led by the stories "A Diamond as Big as the Ritz" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", is sufficient evidence of the artistic power of one of the most prominent pens in the history of literature.
