Michelangelo

Born in Caprese on 6 March 1475. Admirers say his destiny was marked by the alignment of the planets Mercury and Venus on that starry night. As a child he learned from the works of great Italian artists such as Ghirlandaio, Brunelleschi and Leonardo da Vinci, among others. He also studied with passion the classical culture of Rome and ancient Greece. Thus, his sculptures such as the Pietà and the famous David, his frescoes of the Sistine Chapel and his architectural projects carried the greatest brilliance during the Renaissance. His long life – he died at eighty-nine – allowed him to create tirelessly and to achieve his greatest ambition: to be the greatest artist in the history of art.
