Kleopatra

Born in Alexandria, the city founded by Alexander the Great at the mouth of the Nile. She was the last queen of Egypt and lived in an era when this magnificent civilization was in full decline. Contrary to the legend surrounding her image, she was a clever and intelligent woman who spoke many foreign languages and had a broad knowledge base. She ruled her kingdom well during the difficult years she held the throne and used her charm in the service of Egypt's politics and welfare. Her love affairs with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony were sincere and were not necessarily aimed at uniting with the Roman Empire, which threatened her territory.
