Blue Guitar

Oliver Ormi — a middle-aged painter and narrator of the story, at the same time a typical character of the Banvillian universe — has finally lost his inspiration to paint, so his latest work, Blue Guitar, remains unfinished.

He has recently been using his secret, childlike passion for the erotic thrill that kleptomania carries in his love life as well. This also explains his connection to Poli Petit, the wife of his friend, the watchmaker Mark.

Out of fear of the consequences of his actions, Oliver abandons not only his wife, Gloria, but also his lover, his friend and the house where he lives. He escapes to the abandoned house of his childhood and begins to search for, and write down, the answers to how and why things happened the way they did.
