Charlie Chaplin

Born in London (United Kingdom), Charlie Chaplin is one of the leading figures in the history of cinema. He was the son of a couple of little-known actors. Within a few years he managed to rise above the poverty in which he lived and became the most famous and highest-paid actor of his era. Over forty years he took part in more than eighty films, where he successfully also performed as actor, director, composer and producer. He was regarded as a genius of cinema, first of silent film and later of sound film. His career began with comedies, then sentimental and dramatic films, and ended with films that denounced society and politics. His greatest creation was the character of the Tramp, a unique vagabond of his kind thanks to his moustache, hat, cane… and his adventures, which have moved generations.
