The Frogs

"The Frogs" is one of the most famous comedies among the eleven works of Aristophanes that have survived to the present day. Dionysus, disguised as Heracles, descends to Hades in order to bring Euripides back to earth, because the Athenian theatre is suffering in the meantime from a lack of creators of such stature. So Aeschylus and Sophocles have also moved to the Underworld. After many adventures and comic misunderstandings, Dionysus, god of entertainment and theatre, finally arrives in the kingdom of Pluto, just as a poetry contest between Euripides and Aeschylus is being prepared there.
