Architect Sinani

My name is Sinan, Architect Sinani. I was born on 29 May, and my birth year is inaccurate due to the difference between the Muslim lunar and Christian calendars: 1489 or 1490. I spent my childhood on the bank of the Vjosa river, where the road Vlorë–Selenicë–Kullë–Lopë–Tepelenë ran, built as early as the 6th century BC. It was paved with cobblestones by masters of the stone-carving tradition. The road wound through settlements where trade and exchange centres for local goods operated. Inns (hotels), postal and communal services also operated there. One such inn was built in the village of Gjergjaj, in the Lopë region, Tepelenë district, in the Labëria area. This trading centre, an inherited property of mine, was named "Sinan's Inn".
